A Real Call That Inspired This Guide

We recently got a call from a homeowner — let’s call him Brian — who had a handful of questions about our general pest control. He wanted to know exactly what it includes, what pests it covers, whether it’s safe for kids and pets, and how add-on services like weeds, mosquitoes, rodents, and pigeons work.

Those are smart questions, and they’re ones we hear a lot. So that’s what we’re doing here: using Brian’s call as a simple, straight-talking guide you can use when you’re deciding how to protect your own home.

What “General Pest Control” Really Includes

When we talk about general pest control, we’re talking about a year-round service that focuses on the most common household pests. Most of our customers choose service about every two months, and they pay per visit at the time of service (though paying ahead for the year is an option).

On a standard visit, here’s what we do outside your home:

  • Treat the base of your home – We create a protective barrier around the foundation.
  • Go out to the property line – From the base of your home to the edge of your yard, we look for problem spots.
  • Treat all surface changes – Anywhere it changes from grass to gravel, concrete to rock, or other landscape transitions, we apply product. Pests love these transition zones.
  • Knock down spider webs – We brush down webs around eaves, windows, and entry points.
  • Check and treat ant hills – We look for active colonies and treat them directly.

If you ever need the inside treated, that’s included too. Some customers only need indoor service at the first visit or during a heavy bug season; others like us to check inside at every visit.

What We Do Inside the Home

On an interior service, we focus on where bugs actually travel and hide, not just random spraying:

  • Baseboards – We treat along the baseboards where insects like to run.
  • Under sinks – Kitchens and bathrooms are prime spots due to moisture and plumbing penetrations.
  • Doorways and entry points – We target cracks, crevices, and thresholds where pests can sneak in.
  • Other problem areas – Any space where we see activity or where you’ve noticed issues.

We use products that are safe for families and pets when used according to the label, and we’ll walk you through any simple precautions, like keeping pets off treated surfaces until they’re dry.

Which Pests Are Covered (and Which Are Not)

Our general pest control is designed to cover the “usual suspects” around Arizona homes, including:

  • Scorpions
  • Spiders
  • Roaches
  • Crickets
  • Ants

These are managed as part of your regular service, with no extra “per pest” fees.

Some pests are considered specialty services because of the complexity and intensity of treatment. These typically are:

  • Bed bugs
  • Termites
  • Large beehives or complex bee work

Those require different products, techniques, and time on site, so we quote them separately.

How Add-On Services Work: Weeds, Mosquitoes, Rodents & Pigeons

On Brian’s call, he asked if he could bundle weeds and pigeons with his general pest control and get a yearly quote. That’s exactly how many homeowners like to do it: one provider, one schedule, multiple problems handled.

Weed Control Add-On

Weed control can usually be added as a recurring service alongside your general pest plan. Because every yard is different, pricing depends on:

  • Yard size
  • How saturated it is with existing weeds
  • Type of landscaping (rock, grass, mixed)

That’s why we prefer to do a free on-site evaluation before giving a firm quote. Once we’ve seen the property, we can recommend a treatment plan and put it on the same schedule as your regular pest service if that’s what you want.

Mosquito & Rodent Add-Ons

Just like weeds, mosquito and rodent control can usually be bundled with your general service. These may include:

  • Mosquito yard treatments and habitat reduction
  • Rodent inspection, sealing entry points, and baiting where appropriate

We’ll talk through your specific situation and recommend whether these should be done every visit or just seasonally.

Pigeon & Termite Services: Usually One-Time Projects

Some services work a little differently. During Brian’s call, we explained that pigeons and termites are typically treated as one-time (or project-based) services rather than something that’s automatically done every visit.

With pigeons, a big part of the cost is the cleanup and any physical deterrents (like spikes or netting) that need to be installed. We really need to see:

  • Where the birds are roosting
  • How much droppings and debris there is
  • What kind of roof or structure we’re working with

For termites, we’re looking at the construction of the home, the extent of activity, and whether a spot treatment or full perimeter treatment makes the most sense. Again, that’s why an on-site evaluation is key.

Why We Like to Do a Free Evaluation First

Just like we did for Brian, we usually recommend a free evaluation when you’re looking at a package that includes general pest control plus weeds, mosquitoes, rodents, or pigeons.

During that visit, we:

  • Walk the property with you
  • Look for current pest activity and risk areas
  • Measure or estimate the areas that need treatment
  • Explain which services make sense for your situation
  • Put together clear pricing so you can choose annual or per-visit billing

Our goal is to build a plan that actually matches your home, not just plug you into a one-size-fits-all package.

Putting It All Together for Your Home

If you’re looking at general pest control and wondering what’s included, what it covers, and how to add on weeds, mosquitoes, rodents, or pigeons, you’re asking the right questions. We’re always happy to walk through options, explain what’s covered, and come out for a free evaluation so you can see exactly what you’re getting.

Whether you need simple every-other-month coverage for the basics or a bundled plan with a few extras, we’re here to keep the bugs (and birds, and weeds) where they belong — far away from your home.
